YOUR INFORMATION, EXPLAINED

Your information.
Your boundaries.

A plain-language guide to how Stress of Relief handles information in the current community beta.

Your account and profile

Stress of Relief stores your account email, sign-in information, profile nickname, optional bio, selected topics, conversation preferences, and the time you confirm that you are 18 or older. The age confirmation is your own declaration; the app does not verify your age with an identity document.

Your conversation partner can see your nickname, bio, shared topics, and conversation intention. Your account email is not shown to other members. Essential sign-in cookies keep you signed in and authenticate requests.

Google sign-in, when enabled, uses basic Google identity information such as your name, email address, and profile picture to authenticate your account through Supabase. Your chosen nickname remains the name used in peer conversations.

02

Conversations, calls, and Alex

Text messages pass through the app’s servers and are stored temporarily in Supabase during a live conversation. A conversation partner can copy, capture, or repeat what you share. The app cannot guarantee confidentiality.

The app does not record audio or video. Camera and microphone access begins only when you enable a call. Calls currently use a direct browser connection, assisted by Google’s public STUN connection service. No TURN relay is currently configured, so your partner may be able to see your network address and some networks may not connect.

Alex stays in your browser tab.

Alex is an automated companion using prepared, rule-based replies. Your messages to Alex are not sent to a server or an AI provider, and are not saved by the app. Leaving or refreshing clears that conversation. Written conversation guides also use prepared prompts. The app currently has no AI model integration.

Comfort check-ins and after-conversation reflections stay in memory in the open panel. They are not sent to a server, saved to your profile, or used for matching. Leaving the panel, refreshing, or changing accounts clears them. Conversation cards and quick messages enter your draft; they are shared with your partner only when you press Send.

During calls, icebreaker rounds share question choices and timer controls through the peer connection. They do not listen to, transcribe, or analyze your conversation. Either participant can pause or skip the prompts. The solo icebreaker preview stays in your browser and starts no call.

03

What stays, and for how long

A room expires when a participant’s browser stops checking in for two minutes, or after four hours in total. Expiry is checked during connection activity and by a scheduled cleanup that runs once a minute, so removal can occur at the next cleanup.

Messages & call connection details
Deleted from the app database when a conversation ends through leaving, blocking, reporting, or session expiry.
Ended room records
Kept for one day, then removed at the next cleanup. These include participant identifiers, timestamps, and the profile details shared in that room.
Inactive connection records
Removed after 30 days at the next cleanup. These contain matching preferences and connection activity.
Accounts & profiles
Remain stored until removed by the operator. There is currently no automatic account deletion schedule.
Reports, blocks & moderation records
Retained for operator review and account restrictions. These do not currently have an automatic deletion deadline.

Reports contain the reason and details you submit, account identifiers, nicknames, and review decisions. They do not automatically include a conversation transcript. Authorized moderators can review reports and restrict accounts; reports are not monitored live.

You can report or block someone for up to 15 minutes after a conversation ends. To keep this option available, the tab briefly holds room and session identifiers, your account identifier, the partner’s nickname, and an expiry time in memory. It does not keep the conversation transcript. Refreshing or closing the tab, signing out, or starting another conversation clears this reporting shortcut.

These cleanup periods describe the app’s database records. They do not promise immediate removal from infrastructure logs or backups, or from copies another person has made.

The services that make this possible

Stress of Relief uses outside services to run the app. Those services receive the information needed for their function, including technical request information such as network addresses and browser details.

  • Supabase handles account authentication and the app database. Supabase privacy information
  • Vercel hosts the website and server routes. Vercel privacy information
  • Resend handles account email delivery through Supabase’s custom SMTP configuration. It receives your email address and the confirmation or password-reset email to send to you. Resend privacy information
  • Google receives browser requests for the fonts used on this site and connection requests for its public STUN service when calls start. When Google sign-in is configured, its sign-in library loads after the adult confirmation and Google handles the account selection. Google privacy information

There are currently no advertising integrations in this app.

05

Choose what you share

You can use a nickname, leave your bio blank, edit your profile in My space, and sign out of this browser. Camera and microphone are optional. You can end a conversation, block an account, or submit a report.

Signing out does not delete your account or profile. There is currently no self-service account deletion or data export control; these require operator action.

For account or data questions, including a request to delete your account, email stressofreliefinfo@gmail.com. Share only the details needed to explain your request.

This notice describes the current app. It will need to change if its providers, data handling, or features change.
